Bomb Squad Securing Suspicious Device In Tarpon Springs

Something resembling a pipe bomb was found today at a metal recycling plant in Tarpon Springs, Pinellas County sheriff's Sgt. Jim Bordner said.
Employees sorting scrap metal at Anclote Metal, 806 Anclote Road, when they found the device before 2 p.m., Bordner said. The business is in the unincorporated area of Tarpon Springs.
As a precaution, 10 to 15 employees were evacuated until the device can be rendered safe or removed, he said. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's bomb squad is assisting because Pinellas does not have its own unit.
