Published: December 22, 2007

SARASOTA - Tampa Prep's girls soccer team has heard talk that it is a small team in a small class - 2A. The team has heard the talk that its schedule doesn't stand up against some of the teams in 5A or 6A. Two matches into the Sarasota Holiday Classic, Tampa Prep remains undefeated at 15-0, with two tough opponents behind it and maybe some talk put to bed.

"These types of games prove that we are not just a little 2A school," senior forward Carrie Field said. "I hear it in club play sometimes, but today showed we have the same amount of talent if not more as other teams in other classes."

In the Terrapins' first match of the day, Chelsea Klotz added goals 38 and 39 on the season as Tampa Prep defeated big-and-physical St. Petersburg Catholic 3-1.

The Barons struck first in the second half with the game's first goal on a free kick by Katia Ramadari. The Terrapins answered with a goal by Jackie Rosenthal after Paige Goodwin ran down a ball heading out of bounds and made a nice pass to her waiting teammate.

Klotz gave the Terrapins the lead on a shot that was mishandled by SPC keeper Jackie Briggs before adding her second and the Terrapins' third after a long individual run.

The Terrapins beat Bloomingdale 1-0 in their second game, with the game-winner coming on a free kick by Carrie Field. Field's shot from 25 yards out was saved by Bloomingdale's Christina Coca, but not before the ball had crossed the goal line.

Bloomingdale was able to hold Klotz and Goodwin in check for most of the game, with Coca recording 10 saves. Tampa Prep goalie Jordan Hatton had five saves, coming out to deny the Bulls twice with solid stops in the second half.

Next up for Tampa Prep is 6A powerhouse Melbourne today at 11 a.m. at Sarasota. A win would advance the Terrapins to the Elite bracket championship match today at 6 p.m.
