ST. LOUIS - Marian Hossa scored on a break-in at 19 seconds of overtime after a defensive mistake, and Ilya Kovalchuk scored his NHL-leading 29th goal in the Atlanta Thrashers' 3-2 victory against the St. Louis Blues on Sunday night.
Hossa swept in alone on goalie Manny Legace after Jay McKee fumbled the puck in the air and then lost control after Eric Perrin flipped it into the St. Louis zone.
The Thrashers have won four in a row, beating Montreal by the same score in a shootout Saturday, after losing their previous four games, and won in St. Louis for the first time in franchise history.
Kovalchuk has 25 goals and 16 assists in the last 28 games for the Thrashers, who climbed above .500 at 18-17-1.
DEVILS 1, FLAMES 0: Martin Brodeur broke a tie with George Hainesworth for second place on the NHL's career shutout list, making 30 saves in New Jersey's overtime victory over Calgary.
Brodeur has three shutouts this season to push his career total to 95. Terry Sawchuk tops the list with 103.
Patrik Elias scored the lone goal, beating Miikka Kiprusoff at 25 seconds of the extra period. Kiprusoff finished with 21 saves.
SENATORS 3, RANGERS 1: Chris Kelly snapped a second-period tie, and Martin Gerber came back from a day off to lead Ottawa past New York.
Gerber, who sat out the Senators' 4-3 overtime loss to Chicago at home on Saturday night, made 34 saves to earn his fourth win in five outings. He gave up Scott Gomez's goal 3:42 in and then held off New York the rest of the way.
Jason Spezza and Kelly wiped out an early deficit for the Senators, who lead the Eastern Conference with 50 points (23-8-4).
STARS 4, CANADIENS 1: Linemates Mike Ribeiro, Antti Miettinen and Brenden Morrow scored goals as Dallas beat Montreal.
Stu Barnes added a goal, and Ribeiro also had two assists in his first game against his former team to help the Stars improve to 6-1 in their past seven games.
Marty Turco stopped 17 shots, missing his 32nd career shutout when Andrei Markov got his ninth of the season at 13:35 of the final period.
PREDATORS 3, BLUE JACKETS 1: J.P Dumont broke a tie with 38 seconds left, leading Nashville past Columbus. David Legwand had a power-play goal, and Jed Ortmeyer added an empty-netter for the Predators in their second straight victory after a five-game losing streak.
Nashville also has won 11 straight, including three this season, against Columbus dating to April 3, 2006.
BLACKHAWKS 3, OILERS 2: Defenseman Brent Seabrook had his first two-goal game in the NHL and Chicago beat Edmonton for its third straight victory.
Seabrook's second goal, at 1:20 of the third period, broke a 2-2 tie. His drive from the right wing beat goalie Mathieu Garon on the short side.
PENGUINS 4, BRUINS 2: Gary Roberts had two goals and linemate Georges Laraque also scored to lead Pittsburgh past Boston. Roberts and Laraque also had an assist, and Evgeni Malkin also scored for Pittsburgh, which scored twice in a 30-second span late in the second period. Erik Christensen finished with two assists.
AVALANCHE 3, CANUCKS 1: Cody McCormick and Andrew Brunette scored in a 1:34 span of the third period, and Peter Budaj made 21 saves to help Colorado beat Vancouver.
