HUDSON – Four people were injured and one person was killed about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday in a rear-end collision on U.S. 19 at Little Road, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
A Nissan Titan truck driven by David A. Belniak, 34, of Spring Hill was heading north on U.S. 19 when it came to a sport utility vehicle stopped at a red light at the Little Road intersection, a highway patrol report stated.
The Titan did not stop and struck the rear of the Chevy Tahoe, causing it to spin into the intersection. As the Tahoe spun around, the Nissan hit its front right section, the report said.
The driver of the Tahoe, Raymond C. McWilliams, 64, and two passengers, Linda A. McWilliams, 66, and Denise M. Bassi, 50, were transported to Bayfront Medical Center. Belniak also was transported to the St. Petersburg hospital.
A man in the backseat of the Tahoe, Gerard O. Bassi, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.
An investigation will determine whether charges will be filed.
