Blinding speed and fearless ball-hawking ability. Was clocked at 4.16 in the 40-yard dash. Plays safety, but can move to cornerback. Has a 35-inch vertical leap. Had 62 tackles and three interceptions. Ran anchor leg on 4X100-meter relay team that set a national AAU record. State champion in the 110 hurdles. "Spencer has rare ability,'' Butler coach Mike Newsome said. "He can move. He can motor. He can fly. Whatever coaching cliché you want, he can do it.'' Played in the nation's most accomplished prep secondary – Robert Blanton (Notre Dame) and Eddie Whitley (Virginia Tech) also were Division I-A prospects. Selected for Jan. 5 ESPNU All-American Game at Disney.
