Postal Worker Enjoys 'Best Day' For Delivery

Postal worker Vanessa Cruz didn't have to work Christmas Day but she did, volunteering to play Santa's helper and bring last-minute packages via the U.S. Postal Service's express mail.

"I do it every year; I love it," Cruz said. "I mean, it's so good to see the joy on the children's faces when they see presents coming to them on Christmas, even though they have already opened some of them. So it makes me happy to go out and deliver."
Bea Bare of Tampa was surprised by an unexpected delivery of an unexpected gift Tuesday.

"It's from my nephew. This is a surprise, a huge surprise," Bare said.

"I should have known that the Postal Service would be doing this. I should have known because you all are super, you really are," she said.

Greetings like that make it satisfying for Cruz to give up her holiday at home to make Christmas deliveries.

Town 'N Country resident Jacqueline Vasconcellos was excited to get her delivery from Cruz. "I can't wait to open it and call the person and say thank you," she said.

U.S. Postal Service spokesman Gary Sawtelle said express mail delivery happens every day, "but this is the day, the best day of the year for delivery."
