A Waffle House employee was pistol-whipped this morning in a series of three robberies investigators think was committed by the same two men, said Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
The first robbery was reported at 2:26 a.m. at a 7-Eleven at 1902 U.S. 301, where the gunmen took cash and a case of Heineken beer.
The second robbery was reported at 2:47 a.m. at a Waffle House at 6502 N. U.S. 301. The third was at a Waffle House at 1902 W. Lumsden Road, where a 23-year-old female cook was hit on the head with a handgun, Carter said.
The cook was treated at the scene by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for a large cut to the head. The Tampa Tribune is not publishing her name because the robbers have not been caught.
Both robbers masked their faces with bandannas and had handguns, Carter said. No vehicle was seen.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at (813) 247-8200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
