TAMPA - A 24-year-old man was wounded in the thigh late Wednesday during a shootout at an apartment complex off of Fletcher Avenue, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Taurean Capeheart, of Palencia apartments at Pierre Place, was shot in the left thigh just before 10:30 p.m. Capeheart was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. His injury was not life-threatening, authorities said.
Capeheart and a friend were confronted by the man who pulled out a handgun and pointed it at them. Capeheart pulled out a gun and a gunfight began.
Deputies recovered the gun used by Capeheart along with drug paraphernalia. Deputies think the shooting was drug-related.
The man who confronted Capeheart is 6 feet tall, about 25 years old, husky, with a stubble beard and wearing dark jeans and a yellow shirt with stripes. Deputies were searching the area.
