About 6 a.m. Thursday, phone service to about 300 homes and some businesses in Thonotosassa was disrupted when vandals cut and removed a section of Verizon cable near the corner of Knights-Griffin Road and Ed Dennison Road, according to Verizon spokesman Bob Elek.
Elek said disrupted service should be fully restored by Sunday.
Repair crews are working around the clock to reconnect the damaged lines, he said.
"We have to splice together each of those 300 copper lines and it has to be done right so the lines don't get crossed," Elek said. "Right now, we're missing a piece of the network."
