POLK COUNTY - A motorcycle driven by a Polk County deputy ran off the road this morning east of Bartow. The deputy wasn't seriously injured.
Deputy Kerry Curtis was pulling onto the road to stop someone when he ran over something slick on the road and lost control of the motorcycle, sheriff's spokesman Scott Wilder said.
He suffered road rash and skinned his knees and knuckles, Wilder said. He was taken to a Bartow Hospital for precautionary reasons.
The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 60 at 91 Mine Road.
