TALLAHASSEE - After missing out on its top two choices, Florida A&M plans to announce former Hampton coach Joe Taylor as its new football coach at a news conference today, according to school officials.
Taylor, Florida A&M President James Ammons and new athletic director Bill Hayes will be at the announcement, the Sunday release said.
Taylor will replace Rubin Carter, who was fired Nov. 20 after just three seasons and a 3-8 mark this year.
Hampton, meanwhile, named Jerry Holmes on Saturday to succeed Taylor.
Florida A&M earlier offered its coaching job to Grambling's Rod Broadway and Georgia assistant John Eason.
A 1972 graduate of Western Illinois University, Taylor is a native of Washington, D.C., and had been head coach at Hampton for 16 seasons.
