TAMPA - Boyz 2 Men Barbershop is a cut above other barbershops.
Online voters named the Sulphur Springs business the best in the land, deserving of the Ford F-150 fifth annual Hoodie Award for best barbershop. Owners Edward and Teneca Williams picked up their trophy at a ceremony Oct. 20 in Las Vegas.
Their shop, 8403 N. Florida Ave., was one of four national finalists selected by online voters in August during comedian Steve Harvey's morning radio show.
'It was a blessing to be nominated,' Teneca Williams said.
The couple opened the shop about six months ago in a storefront at Florida and Waters avenues.
The Hoodies were created five years ago to recognize local businesses and community leaders in 12 categories: barbershop, beauty salon, community leader, fried chicken place, soul food place, nail salon, carwash detail shop, barbecue place, high school, high school teacher, church and church choir.
Big John's Alabama Bar-B-Que, 5707 40th St., was a finalist as best barbecue place.
