Regarding 'Meet Our 2007-08 Community Columnists' (Commentary, Oct. 28):

Congratulations on being chosen to write columns for The Tampa Tribune! All 22 of you will be in the spotlight this year. We, your new readers, are eager to discover your talents, read your various opinions and become familiar with your smiling faces.

It was somewhat of a surprise to read Rosemary Goudreau's introduction, in which she explained the selection process; it seemed more likely that the Tribune's own editorial board, professional journalists, would have comprised the panel of judges, rather than the outgoing group of community columnists.

You have a rather daunting challenge ahead of you to be creative, to select topics that will be of interest to the community, to put a new twist or slant on continuing stories, and to be in a position to select your own successors next year. Have fun, and enjoy that kitchen dance!
