ODESSA - Author and home-schooling advocate David Albert will speak from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at The Pavilion at Spirit of Life, 18412 Burrell Road, north of Tarpon Springs Road in northwest Hillsborough County.
Albert will give three presentations:
•11 a.m., 'Beans and the Curriculum of Creamed Corn,' exploring ways of seeing the world beyond our personal histories and discovering a 'curriculum of everyday life'
•1:30 p.m., 'The Future is Now! Engaging Our Young Teens for the Journey Ahead,' helping people acknowledge teens' new intellectual, emotional and spiritual capabilities as they seek futures befitting their emerging sense of themselves
• 3:30 p.m., 'Dismantling the Inner School,' exploring the mental images of school that limit us from acting fully upon what we already know. The session aims to boost families' self-confidence so they can help teens pursue their dreams.
Those who register by Friday will pay $10 for one talk, $18 for two and $25 for three. Take $3 off the total for the second adult in the same family. Children will be admitted by donation. At the door, attendees will pay $3 more than the total fee.
An offering will go toward use of the church.
Books and other resources will be available for perusal and for purchase.
