APOLLO BEACH – A trio wanted in connection with a series of smash-and-grab vehicle burglaries from Pasco to Miami-Dade counties were arrested Thursday on Interstate 75 in southern Hillsborough County, authorities said.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers arrested Emile McGossett, 18, and Consula Gloria Rudette, 21, both of Miami, and a 16-year-old boy from North Miami during a traffic stop, a highway patrol news release states. The trio face charges of dealing in stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
Emile faces additional charges of obstructing by providing a false name to a law enforcement officer and driving on a suspended license.
McGossett is in the Hillsborough County Jail with bail set at $10,250. Rudette also is in a Hillsborough County jail, with bail set at $9,500. The custody status of the 16-year-old was not available.
About 6 p.m. Thursday, troopers in Manatee County spotted a 2007 Cadillac sedan matching the description of a car the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office was seeking, the release states. They followed the car into Hillsborough County and pulled it over south of Apollo Beach.
The Florida Highway Patrol recovered property belonging to 36 people from Pasco, Sarasota, Manatee, Orange, Broward, Lee and Miami-Dade counties, authorities said. Recovered items included purses, driver licenses, credit cards, checkbooks, gift cards, sunglasses, receipts and papers.
