ORLANDO – A man charged with multiple armed robberies would have been better off if he had just sold his gun, Orlando police said.
Webster Cooper's 1940 Colt Woodsman Match Target Bullseye pistol is the same weapon seen in a series of surveillance videos of convenience store robberies that began in August, detectives said.
Detective Matt Deem says the gun is worth about $1,800 and that Cooper's total take from the robberies was less than that.
Cooper told investigators he bought the gun on the street.
Authorities say that if no one comes forward to claim the gun as stolen property, it might be destroyed.
