Taylor Cabral scored on the Lancers' first offensive play and added a punt return for a touchdown in the rout.
Cabral scored on a 54-yard touchdown run, and after the Lancers forced a three-and-out from the Wildcats, Cabral returned the ensuing punt 57 yards to give Cambridge (6-3, 3-2) a 14-0 lead.
Erik Shears increased the Lancers' lead 21-0 at the end of the first quarter on a 17-yard touchdown run. The Lancers' D.J. Vasquez added a 1-yard run in the second quarter, before Logan McDougall scored on a 48-yard run to give the Lancers a 35-0 halftime lead.
Academy at the Lakes (1-7) was unable to generate much offensive momentum, with Shears recording eight tackles and forcing a fumble for the Lancers. Hayden Kelly also had an interception.
Chris Brown completed the scoring on a 6-yard run in the third quarter, but it appears the Lancers will fall short of the playoffs after Bradenton Prep beat Out-Of-Door Academy, 43-6.
"The boys did their job, and I'm proud of them," Cambridge coach Rick Shears said. "We needed a little luck, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen."
