Northeast handed its school a Seniors Night victory over visiting Osceola to force a three-way Class 4A-District 9 playoff Monday with Bradenton Southeast and Lakewood.
Both teams garnered all their points in the first half, with Vikings quarterback Armando Sanchez connecting on a 53-yard TD pass to running back Juan Wynn, and a 13-yarder to wide receiver Kevin McCall in the first quarter, and second quarter rushing touchdowns of 24 and 11 yards by running back Timothy Tisdale.
The Warriors answered with Matt Palmer, a defensive back, running back and kicker. First he kicked a 35-yard field goal late in the first quarter. The second quarter saw him boot a 25-yard field goal, score a TD on a 95-yard kickoff return minutes later, and then take the handoff from QB Sean Palmer to run in the two-point conversion.
But Palmer's streak wasn't enough, and Vikings kicker Lukaz Chrzasek connected with a 26-yard field goal at the end of the half to seal what would become his team's victory.
