What happened: The state Office of Insurance Regulation says insurance rates have fallen an average of 14.5 percent. The state is on the hook for at least $6 billion in damage in the event of a storm.
What Crist said: "They're paying higher insurance rates. They're paying higher property taxes. They're paying higher gas prices. I don't think it's right to make them pay higher tuition, too. Not now."
When he said it: While explaining May's veto of a 5 percent increase
What happened: He signed a revised budget in October that includes a tuition increase of 5 percent.
What Crist said: "The hard work of the Legislature will make property taxes drop like a rock."

What happened: An increased homestead exemption is expected to reduce tax bills statewide an average of $240. Homeowners would keep the Save Our Homes benefit when they move if voters approve in January.
