MIAMI - Miami freshman quarterback Robert Marve is facing misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest without violence and minor criminal mischief.
Miami Police spokesman Delrish Moss said Saturday that the former Plant High star was arrested late Wednesday in the Coconut Grove neighborhood after he became upset and broke a car mirror.
A police officer walking by saw Marve damage the car and approached him. Marve tried to run away, but was caught and taken into custody without incident. He signed a promise to appear in court later and was not taken to jail.
Marve was on the sideline for the Hurricanes' game Saturday afternoon. The university released a statement after the game saying Marve met with Coach Randy Shannon "regarding some personal issues."
Julie Marve, the player's mother, declined to comment Saturday night.
