TAMPA - TAMPA - The non-call of a possible Cincinnati pass interference penalty on the last play of the University of South Florida's 38-33 loss was a topic of debate during Monday's Big East coaches teleconference.
"I don't think there's any question [it was interference], but that's just my opinion," USF coach Jim Leavitt said. "I watched the film and I don't think there's any question about it. I think it's pretty clear, but that's me."
Understandably, Bearcats coach Brian Kelly begged to differ.
"It was a bang-bang play. We didn't grab [USF WR Jessie Hester] or pull him down," Kelly said. "I think at that point it was going to be a very difficult ball to catch. The circumstances were such that it wasn't a clear-cut call one way or the other … and I think it was a good no-call."
INJURY UPDATE: RT Walt Walker (knee) and WRs Taurus Johnson (ankle), Amarri Jackson (knee) and Dontavia Bogan (hip) did not practice.
ODDS AND ENDS: USF's Nov. 17 game against Louisville will kick off at 8 p.m. and be televised on ESPNU. … DE George Selvie and CB Mike Jenkins were named to the Big East weekly honor roll.
