Pouncey May Remain On Gators' 'Dark Side'

GAINESVILLE - GAINESVILLE - It appears Florida freshman Mike Pouncey will remain at defensive tackle for the rest of the season. Whether he stays there or returns to the offensive line next season remains to be seen.

"Of course, it would be nice to have him on offense," said QB Tim Tebow, who likely will take snaps from Pouncey next season should he return to offense, "but I'll give him over to the dark side."

Gators coach Urban Meyer said Pouncey — with only two practices as a defender — graded out a "champion" in Florida's 49-22 win Saturday against Vanderbilt. Meyer said Saturday that the decision will be made after the season as to where Pouncey will play next season.

No matter where he plays, Pouncey's teammates are eagerly anticipating the inevitable one-on-one drill that pits the 6-foot-4, 313-pound Pouncey against his identical twin, Gators OG Maurkice Pouncey.
"I can't wait for that," DE Duke Lemmens said Monday. "I think they're going to hit each other and fall backward because it's just equal force."

GAMECOCKS BANGED UP: South Carolina may be missing two key members of its secondary when the Gators visit Saturday. S Emanuel Cook and CB Captain Munnerlyn did not practice Monday because of lower left leg injuries.

Munnerlyn, the team's interception leader, wore a protective cast Monday on his sprained foot. Cook sat out because of an ankle sprain.
