Regarding "Risque Business" (Baylife, Oct. 30):
I have to say this article made me a little sick. From what I have seen over the past number of years, from the time little girls are any age at all, the parents are dressing them like little hookers. And if I look around I see pre-teen and early teen girls dressed the same way. Then there is what they see on TV and the movies.
So are the girls to blame for the way they dress for Halloween?
When I was coming along, Mom and I were good friends, but by the same token, I knew she was the mother. And if she or Dad said "No," no it was because they were the parent. No other reason was needed. When I hear adults say things like, "She just won't wear such and such to preschool," it makes me want to ask, "Who is the parent in your household?"
You can't wait until a child is half grown before you start being a parent; it has to start the first time that child says "No" to you. It is a child's responsibly in life to see what they can get away with, but it is a parent's responsibly to show them who is the parent.
