ST. LEO - Ninety-two minutes of shutout defense was not enough for Saint Leo to win the Sunshine State Conference women's soccer tournament.

The Lions (15-4) fell to Tampa 1-0 in overtime Sunday afternoon at Pepin Stadium, missing out on another conference title at the hands of the Spartans. UT's Marissa Mohammed scored the game-winner in the 93rd minute to avenge a regular-season loss to Saint Leo.

Four Lions made the SSC All-Tournament team: GK Lauren Hudson, F Hannah Beard, D Ginger Davenport and MF Evelina Viiri. Also last week, MF Sara Macko was named to the All-SSC First team, while the four Lions on the All-Tournament Team were named to the All-SSC Second team.

The consolation prize for Saint Leo is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA II South Regional and first-round bye. The three teams set to play at Saint Leo include the host Lions, University of West Florida and Montevallo University (Ala.). West Florida faces Montevallo at 7 p.m., Friday, with the winner taking on Saint Leo on Sunday at 1 p.m.

MEN'S SOCCER: The Lions lost to Nova Southeastern 1-0 in the SSC Tournament quarterfinals on Wednesday, concluding their season earlier than expected, but not without a little postseason hardware.

Forward Jonathan Glenn was named SSC Freshman of the Year, while junior F Eusebio Montoya and MF Brandon Whitsett were named to the All-SSC First Team.

Montoya was third in the league with 35 points (14 goals, seven assists), while Whitsett had a conference-high 13 assists. Glenn had 14 goals, second most in the league, and four assists.

VOLLEYBALL: Saint Leo lost in five games to Eckerd and in four games to Tampa to drop to 24-10 and 6-7 in league play. The Lions played at Lynn Monday night, but the match was not complete by press time.

They conclude their season with matches Friday at Nova Southeastern, and Saturday at Barry.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Fell 86-78 to Division I Central Florida in an exhibition on Saturday in Orlando. F Jordan Prais had 30 points to lead all scorers, while G Dusty Driggs connected on six 3-pointers for 18 points. Driggs went 13-of-21 (62 percent) from 3-point range in the preseason. The Lions open their season Nov. 17 against Puerto Rico-Bayamon at the Bowman Center.

OTHER SPORTS: Women's basketball sophomore Dominique Daniels had 15 points in a 75-57 exhibition loss to Division I Jacksonville on Friday. ... The men's golf team finished 11th at the Rollins Invitational last Wednesday in Ocoee.
