Regarding "$750 A Day Twinkie Monitor" (Metro, Nov. 6):
Has anyone given thought to removing the snack bar from the elementary schools? Ice cream, popsicles, cookies, churros, chips, etc. can be purchased by the students daily with no quantity limit.
Oh, the snack bar is a moneymaker for the school?
What happened to the required 150 minutes of physical activity a week? Students should play outside daily for at least 25 minutes. It should not be a privilege to withhold; it should be required they get up, get out and move. Classroom behavior might improve if the students have the time daily to get the wiggles out.
Who knows, get rid of the snack bar and add exercise and the students might shed a few pounds.
