Girls Soccer: Russo Leads Mitchell Past Land O' Lakes

LAND O' LAKES – Mitchell forward Marisa Russo scored three goals to lead the Mustangs girls soccer team to a 5-1 Sunshine Athletic Conference victory over Land O' Lakes Thursday night.

Mitchell's Morgan Shellenberger and Shelby Wright also scored goals for the Mustangs (6-1, 3-0).

Land O' Lakes' Clair Kurlychek scored in the game's 55th minute. She took a pass from Amanda Goble and blasted a shot that sailed over the head of Mustangs goalie Laura Seletos and just under the goal post.

It was the first goal scored by a public school against Mitchell this year. The Mustangs have outscored their opponents 27-3 so far this year.

Land O' Lakes is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

"The first half, they (Mitchell) played very well," said Mitchell coach Karl Kukec. "We had good passing. It was a good possession game."
