CORAL GABLES - The Hurricanes have been practicing with more enthusiasm this week despite three losses in the last four games.
At 5-4, Miami needs one more win to become bowl eligible and it will be challenging as they face three ranked opponents to finish the season, beginning with No. 23 Virginia on Saturday at home.
"You've got to play with a lot of enthusiasm and emotion to be successful," Coach Randy Shannon said. "If you don't play with those kinds of emotions, then you won't be successful."
Former Hurricanes Russell Maryland, Andre Johnson and Philip Buchanon attended practice.
MCCARTHY HELD OUT: LB Colin McCarthy did not practice Thursday because of an undisclosed injury but is expected to play.
"He'll play, he should play without any problems," Shannon said. "It's nothing serious at all."
KICKER STILL OPEN: The battle at kicker between Daren Daly, Francesco Zampogna and Matt Bosher is still open and will not be decided until after today's closed practice.
TICKETS AVAILABLE: There are tickets still available for Saturday's game against Virginia, which will be the final game for the Hurricanes in the Orange Bowl as they are moving to Dolphin Stadium beginning next season.
There have been more than 60,000 tickets sold for the game, but fans can still purchase tickets by visiting www.hurricanesports.comor calling 1-800-GO-CANES.
