Published: November 8, 2007

TAMPA - University of South Florida WR Taurus Johnson, who has missed the past two games with an ankle injury, will play Saturday at Syracuse.

"TJ repped [Thursday] a little bit," Coach Jim Leavitt said. "He'll play."

Johnson is tied for second on the team with 22 catches for 260 yards and two TDs.

Fellow receiver Dontavia Bogan (hip) will not make the trip and it appears RT Walt Walker won't either, although Leavitt said a final decision on Walker won't be made until this morning.

RB Ben Williams, who has been slowed by a sore ankle, will travel with the team and be available to play.

SELVIE, LEAVITT MAKE LISTS: Two days after not making the final cut for the Lombardi Award, sophomore DE George Selvie is among 15 semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, given to college football's top defender. Leavitt is one of 15 semifinalists for the Munger Award, which goes to the coach of the year.

Meanwhile, senior LB Ben Moffitt was not among the three finalists named for the Butkus Award.

CLUTCH RECEIVER: When QB Matt Grothe needs to move the chains, his most dependable target is sophomore Jessie Hester. Eighteen of Hester's 25 catches (72 percent) have gone for first downs. Hester has 308 receiving yards and a team-high four touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime at Auburn in Week 2.
