Wiley Fox Rocks To Help Children

Published: November 8, 2007

SHADY HILLS - A kicking country band will headline "An All American Celebration" on Saturday to benefit the nonprofit Pasco Pediatric Foundation.

Bass guitarist Rick Stoots says he and the other four members of Wiley Fox toss in Southern rock classics, too, plus oldies such as Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman."

"A lot of people who are not huge country fans end up liking our music," he said.

Wiley Fox has warmed up audiences at the Chasco Fiesta country concert for popular artists like Joe Nichols, Rodney Atkins, Blake Shelton, Phil Vassar, Darryl Worley and Keith Anderson; and has opened shows for Tim McGraw, Charlie Daniels, Willie Nelson, George Strait and other headliners.

With the concert proceeds, the foundation will offer psychological services to children in low-income families; college scholarships for students with physical or emotional disabilities; and playgrounds for special-needs children. The foundation also provides prescription vouchers for children and fills special requests for wheelchair lifts, dental work and other services and products.

"It's for the kids of Pasco County," Stoots said of the benefit. "All the money stays in Pasco. ... That's a huge motivation to make it a success."

Wiley Fox was founded in 1990 by brothers Jesse and Brandon Embry, who own Embry & Sons Auto Body and Auto Sales in Hudson. Jesse is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, while Brandon plays guitar. Joining the brothers and Stoots are drummer Terry Ettel and lead guitarist/pedal steel guitarist Tom O'Neil, who is New Port Richey's public works director.

The gates open at 6:30 p.m. Saturday and the concert starts at 8 at Safety Town in the Concourse nature preserve on State Road 52, a half-mile west of the Suncoast Parkway.

Admission is $20 in advance or $25 at the show and includes a barbecue meal and one beverage. Additional drinks, including beer and wine, will be on sale.

For tickets, call Dottie Liptak at (727) 845-0323.
