PLANT CITY - Four companies and a charity came away winners at Thursday's 15th annual Plant City Business of the Year awards ceremony.
The event, sponsored by the Plant City Economic Development Council and Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, honors businesses in several categories for growth and community service.
Winners included Advantage Restoration, growing business of the year; Alday-Donalson Title Agency, small business of the year; Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, midsized business of the year; and AmeriCare Ambulance Service, large business of the year.
The United Food Bank & Services of Plant City won a special award for exemplary community service. The nonprofit organization has helped more than 40,000 people since it started eight years ago.
Linda Lawson, executive director of the food bank, credited the chamber and community in remarks to the audience at the ceremony and banquet at Red Rose Inn and Suites.
"I'm so honored. I'm so pleased. I'm so shocked. Without you we would not be able to do what we've done," she said.
