Man Arrested After Bat Attack On Family

DOVER - A Brandon man took a metal baseball bat to the door of a Dover family on Thursday and then hit the father in the back, according to an arrest report.

At about 9:25 p.m., Kenneth M. Gruber, 25, of 1905 Hunter Lane, broke out the kitchen door windows of the Braun family at 1301 Sydney Dover Road, the report said.
James Braun, 54, confronted Gruber, who hit Braun in the back, the report said. When one of Braun's sons approached, Gruber swung the bat at both of them, deputies said.
The report did not say why Gruber went to the home.
Gruber was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief. He remained Friday in Orient Road Jail with bail set at $11,750.
