Fox Postpones Day 7 Of '24' Because Of Writers Strike

The writers strike has struck down the Fox thriller "24."

"24" is absent from the network's revised, strike-affected schedule for midseason. In its announcement, Fox explained the "Day 7" season would be indefinitely postponed to ensure an uninterrupted run.

Like most series written by members of the Writers Guild of America, "24" is falling prey to a shortfall of scripts. The heavily sequential, real-time "24" is dependent on a full-season run of 24 episodes.

Fox's revised schedule also calls for "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" to have a two-night premiere Jan. 13-14.

"American Idol" returns Jan. 15-16. A new game show, "The Moment of Truth," premieres Jan. 23.

Fox stressed that its revised schedule, announced Wednesday, was subject to further change, if strike developments warrant. WGA writers went on strike Monday, with no end in sight to their dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.

Lopez Confirms She's Expecting

Jennifer Lopez has confirmed what has become increasingly obvious: She's pregnant.

Lopez, who is touring with her husband, Marc Anthony, made the announcement to South Florida concertgoers Wednesday night.

"Marc and I are expecting," the 39-year-old singer told the crowd in Miami. Lopez didn't say when she is due to give birth.

After her announcement, Anthony kissed his wife's belly.

"I didn't know she was going to talk," he said.

Rourke Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

A scooter-riding Mickey Rourke was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Rourke, star of "Sin City," "Diner" and "9 1/2 Weeks," was arrested at 4:20 a.m. and booked at the Miami-Dade County Jail, said Janelle Hall, a jail spokeswoman. He was released on $1,000 bond, she said.

A Miami Beach Police report said Rourke made a U-turn with a red light and then swerved several times while on a green scooter. He had a flushed face and bloodshot, watery eyes, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, the report said.

"I'm not drunk, I didn't even drink that much," the report quoted Rourke as saying.

Rourke, 51, allegedly failed field-sobriety tests before being taken to headquarters. He also failed an alcohol breath test, police said.

Spears Ordered To Provide 1 Number For Testing

Britney Spears must provide a single, working telephone number to be called in for drug testing, a court commissioner ruled Thursday after her ex-husband's attorney said she repeatedly has failed to respond to calls for the court-ordered screenings.

Of the 14 such calls placed to Spears, she failed to respond eight times, Kevin Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon.

Spears lawyer Anne Kiley argued that Spears hadn't responded within an hour, as ordered by the court, because she was sleeping, and asked that she be given a six hour time-frame instead. Gordon said time wasn't the problem, noting Spears had lost telephone numbers and changed numbers.
