HUDSON - Music, dogs in duds, a carnival, crafts, Kid Zone, entertainment under the big tent and trademark fish dinners are in store all weekend as Hudson Seafest 2007 opens at 5 p.m. today.

Local country singer Daniel Lee Martin is headlining the 23rd annual festival, which continues through 4 p.m. Sunday at USA Flea Market on U.S. 19 at State Road 52. Admission is free; parking is $3.

The Tampa Tribune is a sponsor of the event.

Here's a rundown of what's happening and when:

Today

DUSTY WARD opens the night's performances from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The Hudson High School graduate decided at age 7 that he wanted to sing for a living after taking the stage before more than 300 people at the Pasco County Fair.

At last year's Talent Quest Florida, he placed second and caught the ear of music producer Fred Mendoza, who chose Ward as part of a small group that performed outside Radio City Music Hall in New York to honor U.S. troops.

They also sang at a fire station in Chinatown and for construction crews at the site of the World Trade Center terrorist attacks.

Ward describes his style of country music as "more up-tempo ballad, not the traditional whiny sound."

WILEY FOX is up from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Brothers Jesse and Brandon Embry, who own a Hudson auto body shop, founded the band in 1990.

Jesse is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Brandon plays guitar, Rick Stoots is on bass, Terry Ettel is the drummer, and Tom O'Neil is lead and pedal steel guitarist.

Wiley Fox, a fixture at the Chasco Fiesta Country Concert and other regional events, plays Southern rock classics, country and oldies tunes.

JIM VAN FLEET AND THE REIGN, tonight's headliners, will play tunes from their two CDs - "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet" and "Not Enough Ground" - from 8 to 10 p.m.

The lead vocalist is the early morning meteorologist for Orlando TV station Fox 35. He recently recorded in Nashville, Tenn., with Charlie Craig, who has written songs for Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Reba McEntire and others.

Van Fleet was the 2004 Central Florida winner of K92 FM radio's Colgate Country Music Showdown.

Joining him onstage are drummer Robi Kirkwood, who has lived and played in Orlando for 25 years; Ken Franzetta, who sings and plays steel, acoustic, electric and bass guitar; bass player Jesse Zumwalt, who recorded two CDs with The Chris Caldwell Band; fiddler Al Eisenman, who has performed on the bluegrass festival circuit, the Grand Ole Opry, on albums and advertising soundtracks, and as Walt Disney World's resident fiddler; and lead guitarist Marty Fontana, who started as a stagehand for shows such as Jamboree in the Hills, a Morristown, Ohio, music festival featuring some of country music's biggest names.
