BRADENTON - A 31-year-old man was the victim of a bizarre strong arm robbery early this morning at C&J Bookstore, 4949 14th St., authorities reported.
The victim, who was not seriously injured, was entering the store at 12:25 a.m. when someone standing at the door asked him for $10, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The victim agreed to give him money, but the suspect then counted to three and punched the victim in the side of the face twice, knocking him down, the sheriff's office reported.
The suspect then began to drag the victim toward the building's rear by his sweatshirt. The victim wiggled out of his shirt and ran into the store to call 911, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect fled on foot, taking the sweatshirt, which contained the victim's cell phone. The suspect was described as white with short red hair, 30 to 40 years old, about 6' 2" and about 175 pounds.
