SARASOTA COUNTY - A jail nurse is accused of replacing an inmate's oxycodone pills with Tylenol and taking the prescription medicine for herself.
The inmate noticed Saturday that the pill administered to him was marked differently from the oxycodone he had been taking four three days, and he questioned it because he has drug allergies, according to a sheriff's office report.
Heather L. Rowland, 29, was the last to handle Cedrick L. Mitchell's prescription, and now faces a felony charge of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, the report states.
Rowland told a detective that she had back pain and needed the medication herself, and turned over seven remaining oxycodone pills she had in her house, the report states.
She was arrested early Sunday morning and released on bond later that day.
