CORAL GABLES - CORAL GABLES - Miami (5-5) has lost four of its last five games, including a 48-0 loss on Saturday to Virginia, and are the verge of sitting out the bowl season.

However, first-year head coach Randy Shannon said there is not much the Hurricanes can do in terms of personnel changes.

"Personnel is what you got, you can't change anybody," Shannon said. "You can't trade anyone on the waiver wire or pick anyone off of IR or just hanging out on the streets. You got what you got personnel-wise."

Quarterback play has haunted Miami throughout the season and Shannon is looking for a better performance in the passing game. UM is ranked 110th nationally and last in the ACC, averaging 162 yards a game.

It won't be easy as they face the nation's No. 8 defense in Virginia Tech.

LIKELY OUT: RBs Graig Cooper (knee) and Shawnbrey McNeal (ankle) are unlikely to play on Saturday after suffering injuries last week against Virginia.

Cooper, the team's leading rusher, was wearing a brace on his right knee and did not practice much on Tuesday. McNeal was on crutches and had a cast on his left lower leg.

DE Courtney Harris missed the last game with an injury, but could return this week. Shannon said: "He will be practicing tomorrow. He did a lot today. He'll be practicing tomorrow from what the doctors tell me."
