GAINESVILLE - GAINESVILLE - Sophomore TB Chevon Walker has been granted his release from the University of Florida football team, Coach Urban Meyer said.
Meyer did not elaborate why Walker asked for his release, or why he hasn't been on the game day dress list since the Auburn game on Sept. 29.
His release will allow him to receive an athletic scholarship in his first year at his next school. He rushed four times for 14 yards this season.
With Walker gone, Meyer said junior Markus Manson will switch back from corner to tailback.
Manson played cornerback this season after being a running back his first two years. "He's looking pretty good," Meyer said. "He's doing a good job for us. He might [play]."
HARVIN UPDATE: Meyer said he was very concerned about Percy Harvin after he saw the wide receiver Tuesday morning.
UF put him through a morning workout, but after he finished, Meyer said everything flared back up again.
"He came in and had the same symptoms so they took him to the doctor," Meyer said. "I'm not sure if it's migraine/sinus infection/something else – that's what they're trying to find out right now."
The Gators are doing the best the can to keep the sophomore spirit's up while he's sick.
Fellow WR Louis Murphy said he talked to Harvin prior to the South Carolina game.
"I called him … right before we went on the field just to tell him that he's here in spirit. I'm playing this one for him," Murphy said. "He's just like family."
ETC: Meyer said S Jamar Hornsby is not practicing because of "personal business" but should be back by Monday. … RG Maurkice Pouncey may return to the practice field today after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Gamecocks.
