An 18-month-old girl was bitten on the face by a friend's family pet Tuesday night, St. Petersburg police said.
A black Labrador mix owned by Cheryl Akehurst of 100 88th Ave. N.E. bit the toddler on the mouth area, police spokesman George Kajtsa said.
The girl was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries and transferred to All Children's Hospital, Kajtsa said.
An All Children's spokeswoman said the family did not want the media to be given the child's condition.
The girl's mother, 30-year-old Danielle Jones of Kingston, N.C., made the 911 call, police said.
The same dog seriously injured a child in July, Kajtsa said.
Akehurst has agreed to have the dog euthanized by animal control, which has the animal.
