LAKELAND - Drug detectives found 24 marijuana plants, each more than 8 feet tall, during a Tuesday raid of a marijuana grow house, Lakeland police reported today.
The plants, found in a house at 1631 Huntington Ave., have a value of about $500,000, Lakeland police spokesman Jack Gillen said.
"This is the first grow operation within the city of Lakeland of this magnitude," Gillen said.

Police arrested Jose Y Hernandez, 45, on charges of cannabis trafficking, and cultivation and maintaining a dwelling for drug operation.
Lakeland police Officer Dale Deas began investigating the house after receiving reports of suspicious activity there, Gillen said.
Detectives seized a vehicle, trailer and a boat from the house.
