Arrest Made In Year Old Killing

LAND O'LAKES - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 48-year-old truck driver on a charge of first-degree murder in the September 2006 death of a Land O'Lakes woman.

Teresa Elizabeth Lodge, 46, was found dead in her home at Lakeside Apartments on Land O'Lakes Boulevard on Sept. 29, 2006. Now, the sheriff's office has revealed Lodge was stabbed two days before her body was found.

Friday, detectives obtained a warrant to arrest Derral Wayne Hodgkins of 14808 Frisky Lane, Spring Hill. The warrant was based on DNA evidence, according to Doug Tobin, spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Hodgkins was arrested at his home and is being held in Pasco County Jail without bail.

Hodgkins's arrest Friday on the murder charged triggered an additional charge of violating his probation release from prison in 2004. Hodgkins was convicted of sexual assault in Hillsborough County in 1988.
