ST. PETERSBURG - A 24-year-old Pinellas County woman died Saturday when the car in which she was riding collided with a truck and careened into a building, St. Petersburg Police report.
Angela Jo Schofield of 10421 117th Drive N., Largo, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:10 am. accident, according to the report.
The driver, Joseph Schofield, 27, identified as the dead woman's husband, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries.
The couple's 1997 Honda Civic was southbound on 49th Street N. "at a very high rate of speed," when it collided with a northbound 2002 Dodge pickup preparing to turn left onto 38th Avenue N., the report said.
The left front of the Honda stuck the left front of the truck, pushing the Honda sideways across the roadway and into a parking lot before it struck a building at 3616 49th St. N., Brown Town Tanning Salon, the report states.
The pickup driver, Gene Daniel Hink, 45, of 4410 40th Ave. North, St. Petersburg, was taken to Bayfront Medical Center, treated for minor injuries and released, police said.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is continuing.
