DADE CITY - The Eustis Panthers took advantage of four interceptions to down Pasco 32-16 in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal playoff game Friday at W. F. Edwards Stadium.

With the win, Eustis (9-2) the Class 3A-District 7 runner-up, advances to play at St. Cloud Harmony on Friday.

Pasco turnovers led to 26 Panther points.

Eustis started off the scoring with two touchdowns in the first quarter. Panthers quarterback Courtney Keith hit Brandon Powell for a 2-yard touchdown pass and hit wide receiver Akeem Dunham for a 35-yard score.

Pasco (6-5) rallied with Jamaal Sampson scoring on an 8-yard run with 3:30 left in the first quarter. The Pirates closed the gap with Brennan Allen booting a 44-yard field goal with 8:46 left in the second quarter.

In the third quarter, Keith stopped a Pasco drive by intercepting a pass from Johnson at the Eustis 1-yard line. But Johnson came back to give Pasco the lead by scoring on a 5-yard run with 3:04 left in the third period. Eustis blocked the point-after attempt.

Eustis ended any chance of a Pasco rally by scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter. Tyson Gaines had a 4-yard touchdown run with 9:14 left in the game. Dunham intercepted a pass from Johnson and returned it 35 yards for a score before Gaines ran in the two-point conversion. On the game's final play, Keith ran 45 yards for a touchdown.

"They had a little too much for us," said Pasco coach Tom McHugh. "We gave them 12 points to start the game. ... I'm proud of every one of them. They did a great job."
