AUBURNDALE - Hillsborough's rushing game unloaded on Auburndale as the Terriers advanced out of the first round of the playoffs for the first time since 2004, defeating the Bloodhounds 42-7.

"It's good to be out of the first round, I'll say that," Hillsborough coach Earl Garcia said. "We came out of our open week with the best practice we've had all season and I told our guys, 'If we play our game like we practiced, it won't even be close.'"

The Terriers had seven rushers in double digits and five running backs scored TDs. Hillsborough (9-2) will travel to Armwood on Friday.

The first of Hillsborough's scores came on its first drive, with Lindsey Lamar picking up 41 yards culminating in a 10-yard scoring run. Lamar sat out the second half as a precaution. After the kickoff, senior Marc Thomas made an interception on a halfback toss that was batted into the air, giving Hillsborough the ball back near midfield. A two-minute drive followed, ending with a 15-yard TD run by Iziah Wyche.

Thomas added the third score in the second quarter on a 34-yard scamper, his 11th TD of the season.

"We have a lot of weapons on this team," Garcia said. "Everyone who scored in this game except Marc Thomas is an underclassman."

Before the half, Rodney Johnson made the Terriers' lead 28-0 with a 9-yard run.

In the second half, Auburndale's Brandon Reynolds took the ball down the right sideline 33 yards for a punt return touchdown, the lone score for the Bloodhounds (5-6).
