Freshman Leads No. 18 Noles Past FIU

CHICAGO - Freshman Antionette Howard scored 16 points to help No. 18 Florida State beat Florida International 70-50 on Saturday night in the second game of the DePaul Invitational.
Mara Freshour added 15 points for the Seminoles (3-1).

Trailing 39-38, Florida State went on a 9-0 run, sparked by Cayla Moore. FSU extended its lead to 64-47 with 4:06 left that put the game out of reach.

Iva Ciglar scored 12 points and Marquita Adley had 10 points and 16 rebounds to lead Florida International (1-2).

WESTERN CAROLINA 77, LOUISVILLE 72: Brooke Johnson scored 17 points and Western Carolina (3-1) held off a late rally by No. 22 Louisville (1-1) for a victory in the Subway Classic.

Western Carolina used a 10-0 run early in the second half to take the lead, which grew to 11 points, but Louisville rallied and had two chances to tie it or take the lead in the final two minutes.

ARIZONA STATE 66, CAL-SANTA BARBARA 42: Jill Noe had 12 points, eight assists and seven rebounds to lead No. 15 Arizona State (1-1) past Cal-Santa Barbara (1-2).

OHIO STATE 83, BOSTON UNIVERSITY 68: Marscilla Packer scored 24 points and Jantel Lavender added 21 to help No. 16 Ohio State (3-0) beat host Boston University (2-1).

MARQUETTE 67, WISCONSIN 53: Krystal Ellis scored 31 points to lead Marquette (2-0) to an upset of No. 25 Wisconsin (1-1).

The junior point guard scored 21 points in the first half on nine of 14 shooting.

SAINT LEO 69, PR-BAYAMON 59: Dominique Daniels and Latasha Lawrence scored 13 points each to lead Saint Leo (2-0) past Puerto Rico-Bayamon at the Sleep Inn Classic.

NEBRASKA 90, FLORIDA 63: Nebraska (3-0) used a 22-4 run early in the second half to defeat Florida (2-1) in Lincoln, Neb. Dominique Kelley led the Cornhuskers with 16 points.
