TAMPA - Under Armour and the University of South Florida finalized a five-year deal making Under Armour the school's official shoe, outerwear and performance apparel outfitter for the Bulls' football, baseball and softball programs.
The deal, which goes into effect in 2008, is worth more than $1 million and includes $500,000 in products from Under Armour. USF football coach Jim Leavitt also will receive $500,000 over five years.
USF will become the first state school and first Big East school to wear Under Armour.
SENIORS' SWAN SONG: Saturday's game was the final home game for 15 USF seniors: C Nick Capogna, T Jared Carnes, NT Richard Clebert, NT Allen Cray, WR Courtney Denson, DE Woody George, CB Ryan Gilliam, WR Amarri Jackson, CB Mike Jenkins, LB Sam Miller, LB Ben Moffitt, DT Julian Riley, QB Anthony Severino, T Walt Walker and CB Trae Williams.
Carnes, Clebert, Jenkins and Riley were USF's game captains.
In their five seasons, USF's seniors won 34 games and will have played in three consecutive bowl games.
BUTTERFINGERS: For the second consecutive game, USF recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff. USF's Jerome Murphy forced a fumble by Louisville's Trent Guy, with USF's Nate Allen returning it 3 yards for a touchdown.
Last week, Syracuse's Max Suter fumbled the opening kickoff and Dylan Douglas recovered.
RUN TO GLORY: USF's Mike Ford ripped off a 43-yard run on the Bulls' first play and finished the first quarter with 83 yards rushing. Ford had 96 yards by halftime and went over the 100-yard mark on his first carry of the third quarter.
Last week, Ford rushed for a career-high 134 yards.
PICK SIX: Williams returned a Brian Brohm interception 64 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
After not scoring on his first 13 interceptions, Williams has returned his last two for TDs. Against Cincinnati, Williams returned an interception 73 yards for a touchdown.
ODDS AND ENDS: USF's 41 first-half points were one shy of the school record set against Liberty on Sept. 27, 2001. ... The announced attendance of 57,288 was the fourth-largest in school history, although the actual attendance appeared to be less than 50,000. ... QB Matt Grothe exceeded 700 yards rushing for the season, the first quarterback to do so in USF history. ... WR Carlton Mitchell set school records for most yards receiving in a season by a freshman and most TD receptions by a freshman. ... Brohm tied Chris Redman's school record for TD passes in a season with 29.
