LARGO - A 400-pound, 6-foot-tall statue depicting two children raising an American flag has been stolen from Largo Central Park, Largo police announced this afternoon.
The theft at the park, 323 Central Park Drive, occurred sometime between Friday and Sunday morning, when a park employee noticed it missing, Lt. Mike Loux said.
No suspects have been identified. The motive is unknown.
The cast bronze statue is worth about $3,300. It was anchored to concrete at a location near the military court of honor in the park, Loux said.
"As the statue is rather large, there is hope that someone has knowledge of its whereabouts or who took it," Loux said in a statement.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Paul Amodeo at (727) 587-6730 or (727)587-6728.
