ST. PETERSBURG - A father stabbed his adult son in a Walgreen's parking lot this morning following an argument that touched on the subject of alcohol, police said.
Scott Penney, 46, was charged with domestic aggravated battery, said St. Petersburg police spokesman George Kajtsa. His son, Todd Penney, 21, was stabbed in the upper body with a knife and taken to Bayfront Medical Center, but he was expected to survive his injuries, Kajtsa said.
Father and son both are tree service workers and have histories of drinking, Kajtsa said. Recently, neither Penney had been drinking, and the senior Penney was living in an alcohol-rehabilitation center in Tampa, Kajtsa said.
This morning, an argument erupted at the Walgreen's at 3077 54th Ave. S. at 11:30 a.m. because the elder Penney wanted to resume drinking and his son became displeased, Kajtsa said.
