What would Florida State-Florida week be without some good old-fashioned trash talk? The Noles took the early lead Monday afternoon when junior LB Geno Hayes said FSU intends to do something no one else has been able to accomplish: Shut down Gators QB Tim Tebow, considered the Heisman favorite.
"We are going to have the attitude that Tim Tebow is going down this week,'' Hayes said. "That's what we're going to say, that Tim Tebow is going down. Y'all put that down. Tim Tebow is going down this week. That's attitude.''
The Gators, who have defeated the Noles three consecutive seasons, host FSU on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Hayes said FSU would like nothing more to ruin Tebow's bid to become the first sophomore in history to win the Heisman Trophy.
"There's an old saying, 'The bigger they are, the harder they fall.' He is a great quarterback, but it's not like we're just going to go in there and give up. We're going in there with the attitude that if he runs the ball, we're going to take him down. It'll be fun to see how it turns out.
"Hopefully we can go out there and shatter his dreams. That's our plan, to go out there and shatter his dream of the Heisman.''
