HOLMES BEACH - A 38-year-old man told police his drug habit was so bad that he stole from children and a church, according to police reports.
Jimmi Lee Neidlinger was nabbed last week on grand theft charges after police say he lifted $7,000 of equipment from St. Bernard Catholic Church and Anna Maria Elementary School.
In early November, officials from the school and church told police their buildings were burglarized. Crime scene technicians eventually found a pane of glass nearby, and matched fingerprints on it to Neidlinger.
Neidlinger, who is homeless, told police that he stole the equipment to pawn and buy drugs. He was being held Monday in the Manatee County Jail.
