NEW PORT RICHEY - Cami Austin will again serve as chairwoman of the Chasco Fiesta, which takes place March 27 to April 6 along the banks of the Pithlachascotee River in downtown.

Austin is senior vice president community executive of Synovus Bank.

In a news release, Austin explained why she agreed to chair the event for the sixth year in a row. "Chasco Fiesta is just in my blood and each year participating in the event enables me to work with the most dedicated volunteers and sponsors in the Tampa Bay area to help those in our community who are less fortunate," she said.

"I like to support those who support the community" said Sandy Brown, vice chairwoman of Chasco. Brown, of GMB Investments, has been assisting Austin for the past two years in addition to her hospitality duties and joins Roger Michels of Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home, who has chaired the street parade for the past 42 years, and Chuck Grey of Coldwell Banker F.I. Grey & Son, who heads entertainment.

Ken Huber, of ARPL Real Estate, has been on the Chasco Fiesta Committee for the past 17 years and is also the treasurer and carnival chairman. Other steering committee members include Peter Altman, of District Management Services, who is the chairman of the American Indian activities; Craig McCart, of Sertoma Speech & Hearing Foundation, who oversees off-site events and emceeing, Rich Ojeda, of Marchman Technical School, who co-chairs the vendor and logistics committees with Shane Stambaugh, of Arthur Price Septic Tank Service; and Joe Alpine, president of the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce.
